What Is FIRST Place?
FIRST Place is an innovative and creative learning and development program designed to let everyone discover and explore all types of science, math, and technology on their own terms and in an energetic environment. We offer a wide variety of hands-on programs that have real-world applications and are relevant to students and teachers alike.
The FIRST Place facility encompasses over 15,000 square feet of flexible space in a renovated mill building in downtown Manchester, NH. This unique setting incorporates a re-configurable workshop area with tool-equipped workbenches, movable computer workstations, a networked computer classroom, and a lunchroom. In addition, a media center controls sound and light for the public forum hall and presentation area.
FIRST Place cultivates new approaches to learning and provides a national headquarters from which to grow FIRST programs. Curricula for this working laboratory atmosphere are constantly being developed through new educational and business partnerships. All FIRST Place courses meet the National Science and Technology Frameworks.
