Rookie Alert- Upcoming Deadlines~Plan Ahead~We're here to Help

1/22/13

Greetings Rookies:

Upcoming Deadlines:

Stop Build Day is Tuesday, February 19th: On this day, your team MUST stop work on your robot, seal it in the bag provided in your Kit of Parts (KoP) with the tag from your KoP, and complete the Robot Lock Up form: http://frc manual.usfirst.org/upload/pdfs/2012/12/Robot_Lockup_form_v3-0%2011.20.12.pdf. Section 5 of the Administrative manual includes details on the process: http://frc-manual.usfirst.org/.

Judge’s information in TIMS is exported on Wednesday, February 20th: Judges use this information at competitions when judging teams for awards.  Rookies are eligible for all FRC awards with the exception of the Chairman’s Award AND are eligible for three rookie specific awards. To learn more about FRC awards, review Section 6 of the Administrative manual:  http://frc-manual.usfirst.org/.

Chairman's Award, FIRST Dean's list Award, Woodie Flower's Award and Entrepreneurship Award submissions close on Thursday, February 21st: If you would like to apply for these awards, we encourage you to do so soon. Rookie teams are not eligible for the Chairman’s Award, however, they are invited to submit for the award (the process of applying will give you a benchmark to measure your team against in future years). There are three rookie-specific awards available at FRC competition events, but you don’t need to submit any material in advance to be eligible.

Plan Ahead:

Team Updates and Email Blasts: Please review the team updates: http://frc-manual.usfirst.org/Updates/0 at least twice a week. This is the official place where FRC posts clarifications and updates to the game rules.

If you haven’t already assigned one person to read and distribute FRC communications yet, we encourage you to assign someone now. Important information will be sent through email blasts, blog posts and team updates throughout the season.  If you have one person assigned to communication, they can make sure each division on your team gets the information they need.  If you missed any email blasts, you can find them archived on the FRC Team Email Blast webpage: http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/emailblastarchive.aspx.

The FIRST Forums (which is separate from the FRC Q&A Forum: http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/game-q-and-a) is currently only accepting new users manually. Although all posts are viewable without logging in, new users will need to submit a request to frcteams@usfirst.org to request a FIRST Forums account. For more information on where to direct technical questions, please visit: http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/blog-frc-technical-questions.
