You have FLL in your region, but how did it get there and how does it keep going?

Do you know that FLL is a completely volunteer-driven organization? I know it’s written somewhere on this website, but do you really know? There are Operational Partners in forty (40) countries – and many more regions! - that VOLUNTEER to run this program for you, so that you have a Championship tournament, and perhaps qualifying tournaments, to showcase what you’ve been working on all season. Our Operational Partners raise the funds to hold those tournaments (contrary to popular belief, HQ provides no funding for this purpose), in addition to running the year-round program and recruiting an entire Planning Committee of volunteers that oversee judging, refereeing, team communications, logistics, promotions, etc. All of them have regular fulltime jobs, hobbies, and families on top of their time-consuming volunteer efforts with FLL!

So if there’s an improvement that you’d like to see in your region, don’t just volunteer that information… volunteer to help make it happen!  That’s Gracious Professionalism and FLL Core Values in action.
