Here is a sampling of Volunteer roles for each FIRST program.

Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL)

Local Expos happen between October and April of each year. The Jr.FLL World Festival Expo coincides with the FIRST Championship held in April of each year.

  • Closing Ceremony Volunteer (Must be organized and have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Floater Volunteer (Must be able to go-with-the-flow)
  • Load Out Volunteer (Must be comfortable in physically active role)
  • Team Escort Volunteer (Must be organized and have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Jr. FLL Coach 
  • Jr. FLL Mentor

*Please note: All Jr.FLL volunteers must be comfortable working with and encouraging young children ages 6-9.

FIRST LEGO League (FLL)

  • Judge Assistant Volunteer (Must be highly organized)
  • Load-in/Load-out Volunteer (Must have the ability to stand for long periods and lift)
  • Judging Queuer Volunteer (Must be organized and have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Pit Runner Volunteer (Must have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Robot Game Queuer Volunteer (Must be a strong time manager and have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Usher Volunteer (Must have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • FLL Coach
  • FLL Mentor

*Please note: All FLL volunteers must be comfortable working with and encouraging young children ages 9-16, including international students.

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)

Events are conducted October through March with the FTC World Championship to be held in April of each year.

  • Crowd Control Volunteer (Must be a great communicator)
  • Floater Volunteer (Must be able to go-with-the-flow)
  • Judge Queuer Volunteer (Must be organized and have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Medallion Award Assistant Volunteer (Must be a good communicator)
  • Pit Runner Volunteer (Must have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Team Queuer Volunteer (Must be organized and have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Team Queuer Assistant Volunteer (Must be organized and have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • FTC Coach/Mentor

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC)

Regional Competitions take place Thursday through Saturday each week throughout the month of March. Each event requires a 1-4 day volunteer commitment. The FIRST Championship event takes place in April of each year.

  • Awards Assistant Volunteer (Must be highly organized and a good communicator)
  • Crowd Control Volunteer (Must be a good communicator and have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Pit Administration Support Volunteer (Must be a good communicator)
  • Practice Field Attendant Volunteer (Must be a good time manager)
  • Safety Exit Monitor Volunteer (Must be upbeat and have the ability to sit for long periods)
  • Team Queuing Volunteer (Must have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Lounge Monitor Volunteer (Must be upbeat and have the ability to sit for long periods)
  • Registration/Information Table Volunteer (Must be upbeat and detail oriented)
  • FRC Mentor

* Please note: All FRC volunteers must be comfortable working with and encouraging youth ages 14-18.
