New Scholarships Added Last Month (November)

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving, and those of you who were able are well rested!

It’s the beginning of another month and we wanted to let you know about the new Scholarships that were added to the 2015 FIRST Scholarship Program last month, see below for information and visit for details on all FIRST Scholarship Opportunities:

Mentor Monday - December 1, 2014

Today’s Mentor Monday blog post comes to us from Ellen McIsaac, an alumnus of and current mentor of FRC Team 1124.

We’d like you to write a blog post about your journey to the current point in your career. What were the most important steps that you took? Were there influential people or events along the way?

FAQ 3. Scholarship Requirements

We’ve talked a bit in our past posts about how the Scholarship Program works, and how to use the features of the Scholarship Opportunities page, but I get lots of questions about specific scholarship requirements, so I figured another post was warranted.

Follow along with our example at

Each FIRST Scholarship Provider sets their own scholarship requirements – this is everything from how or when to apply, to if you must declare a specific major. For the 2015 Program, there are sort/filter options available at to help pinpoint scholarships that you may be interested in. (The filter section is the big block at the top of the Scholarship Opportunities page).

FAQ 1. How does the FIRST Scholarship Program work?

The FIRST Scholarship Program is a partnership between FIRST and colleges, universities, corporations and associations/foundations who are interested in making scholarship funding available specifically to FIRST Participants/Alumni.

FAQs and Guest Blogs

Over the next few weeks we’ll be starting two series within this blog: FAQs and Guest Blogs.

I’d like to share with you the some of the most commonly asked questions here at FIRST Headquarters.  I hope that this will help streamline the process for Parents, Mentors, Participants, or Alumni who use the FIRST Scholarship Program. We’ll title each post ‘FAQs’ followed by the question for easy referencing in the future.
