The FRC Season - Past and Future

Taking Some Time for Yourselves

I hope everyone who attended Championship was inspired, had fun, and made some lifelong memories. We know that some things went really well, and some things did not go really well. The survey we recently sent out to all attending teams will let us hear directly from you on what aspects of the event fell into which categories from your perspectives.

Week 6 and a Great Blog from a Student

Week 6

I can’t believe it’s Week 6 already!  Along with 16 other events, we’ve got two District Championships on tap for this weekend, Pacific Northwest and Indiana, at which I expect we’ll see some fantastic Recycle Rush action.  I’m heading to Indiana myself to see their first-ever District Championship.

Dallas Regional Final Matches – Resolution

As I noted in an earlier blog, we have been gathering data from participants regarding the events that took place during the final matches at the Dallas Regional. Based on the information I have, I believe the teams were not treated in a way that meets FRC standards. At a minimum, it appears two teams were not given the opportunity to make the ‘quick remedy’ promised under G7 to get them in a compliant starting position before the final match.

Something New – A Film About ‘You’

I’ll tell you, I love movies. This is not to say I know much about them, because I don’t, but I love them, and I know when I’ve seen a great one.

Record and Waitlist

Record

If you take a look at the schedule for this weekend, you'll see we've got 20 FRC events on tap. That's a lot of inspiration, and a new record!

Waitlist

Many FRC teams have already earned their way to the FIRST® Championship in April through their performance at events, and a high percentage of teams have accepted those slots when offered. Just a reminder that we expect very few waitlist slots to be available. The number available may be just a couple, or even zero.

Frank Answers Fridays

The Frank Answers Fridays feature of this blog is going to take a little hiatus until after Kickoff.  Relatively few questions have been received in the last few weeks, and I’m finding myself with less time to answer the questions I already have as we prepare for the 2014 season.   We’ll start up again in January.
