Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL) continues to grow rapidly, turning more kids – ages 6 to 9 – on to science and technology. We are currently rounding out the “Climate Connections” season in which over 1,200 teams participated.
Did You Know?- Over 44 known Jr.FLL events took place in the 2008 “Climate Connections” season.
- Jr.FLL currently has teams in 48 states in the U.S. and in Canada.
- Massachusetts, New York, and California each had over 100 Jr.FLL teams in the “Climate Connections” season.
- Jr.FLL was represented by teams from St. Louis, Missouri and Atlanta, Georgia during the recent FIRST LEGO League World Festival.
- Jr.FLL is expecting over 1,500 teams in the upcoming “Smart Move” season – more than 20 percent growth over 2008.
- For the first time ever, international teams will participate in the upcoming Jr.FLL season.
- In 2009, Jr.FLL will be focusing on its involvement with Girl Scouts of the USA and homeschool teams, as well as other school and community programs.
Jr.FLL will celebrate the global launch of the “Smart Move” Challenge on September 3, 2009 at 12:00 noon (EST), along with the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program. Registration for the season will open in early August.
We are pleased to announce an updated Web presence at www.usfirst.org/jrfll. Teams can now go online to determine pricing and product information for the upcoming season, as well as to explore general information about the Jr.FLL program. We will also be introducing a new, easier-to-use registration process for 2009.
Make plans to join us for “Smart Move” as we look forward to another successful season.
