CEO & President, Rockwell Collins
Robert K. (Kelly) Ortberg is CEO and president of Rockwell Collins, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company, including oversight of its commercial and government businesses and supporting operating functions. He was named to this position in September 2012.
He previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Government Systems, where he helped lead major program wins at Rockwell Collins, including capturing avionics business on the KC-46A, KC-10 and the Embraer KC-390. He also has served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Commercial Systems, during which time he oversaw the company’s development programs for the Boeing 787, Airbus A350, and Bombardier C-Series. Additionally, he led the launch of the company’s Pro Line Fusion integrated avionics system, which has been selected for more than 15 aircraft platforms since its introduction in 2007. He joined the company in 1987.
Ortberg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Iowa. He serves on The University of Iowa Engineering Advisory Board and the board of directors for the Hawkeye Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He previously served as a member of the board of directors of Bucyrus International.
